Mrs HD has expressed an interest in a quick trip to France for a few days and has suggested we take the bikes.

Has anyone any recommendations for somewhere around 2-3 hours from Calais, fairly flat as shes a cycling novice and a beachy type feel as well as a bit of grown up stuff too?

Probably looking to stay in a hotel within striking distance of restaurants etc.

I'm also wondering if Holland would fit the bill, definitely flat!

Thanking you kindly.

Belgium? Valkenburg is beautiful in Holland - though can't promise either are flat.

Head for Gerardmer in the Vosges.

We have just had a lovely short holiday near Giverny. It is about 3 hours from Calais on the Seine.

Some hills, plenty of flat. The TDF passed the area from Vernon to Les Andelys. You can also cycle by the river which is obvioulsly flat.

We stayed at the https://domainedelacorniche.com/en/ which has a bistro and 1* Michelin but there is plenty of choice around there.

Monet's garden and the Impressionist Museum are at Giverny but buy tickets in advance to avoid a long queue. Versailles is a 30-45 minute drive away very busy and again get private tour of Louis 15 apartments at small extra cost to avoid queue.
