Lots of signs up for the European road champs in the Glasgow area. Rode over to the Campsies today and passed some of the teams limbering up...

although Ermenault seems to be a track star not a roadie.

'And the track team chosen by Bruno Lecki includes three-time European champion Corentin Ermenault in a seven strong men’s team, as well as a solid women’s team coming to the Sir Chris Hoy Velodrome.'

'GANNA was part of the Italian quartet that lost the team pursuit final in Berlin to France, whose team for Glasgow is expected to include defending European madison champions Florian MAITRE and Benjamin THOMAS.'

Is anyone going out to watch the road race? Not sure where the best viewing might be.

Oh well bit disappointing Katie Archibald couldn't get gold yesterday even with local support.

Womens' road race on the city loop starting within the hour, its a course that was used in the Commonwealths and UK champs before so I'll be at my usual spot somewhere up Gt. George St (where Emma Pooley holds the overall best time ahead of Alex Dowsett!)

tbf though I believe Lisa Brennauer broke the track record time for 3km IP in qualification, and then actually went even quicker in the medal race.

was it me though or did a few riders in that group at the end not seem to realise they were sprinting for the win, its like theyd mentally switched off assuming the break riders hadnt been mucking about so much and lost that theyd actually caught them, as there was some odd positioning for riders going for the "win"

Almost ready for tomorrow's TTs, although they were still tarmacing a bit in Bishopbriggs when I went through earlier. Passed several teams out practising on their TT bikes including this guy from Germany/Team Katusha setting a few KOMs along the way. Hope to see more tomorrow!

Audrey Cordon rode the womens course which cuts E along Balmore Road before rejoining the mens course at Torrance RAB.

Dry and fairly calm in town at 05.45, barriers and officials all in place at the top of Byres Road, just turned the fishmongers van back so no fish for the West End today :-(

I saw that Harry Tanfield did a recce of the course (twice around) on Monday so good luck to him, will be interesting to see how he gets on.

Going to watch the womens' TT somewhere along Torrance Road on the climb up from the canal. then maybe come back and watch the men from Cleveden Road, which they do in the easy direction ;-)

Of course the heavens opened later so abandoned my watch point and just managed to get back to Byres as the first rider went out. Spectators a bit thin on the ground but we managed a ripple of applause as they cornered gingerly into Great Western Road. Impressive rides from the Dutch.
