Got back from a ride yesterday to find that one of the side plates on a nearly new chain had come off one of the rivets.
The chain appears to be be fine other than the single link which I am considering replacing with a master link rather than a whole new chain.
Any one have any advice as to why this isn't a good idea?
Thanks

Done it plenty of times. At one point I had three in a chain.

I reckon a whole chain of missing links would be great for roadside repairs...!0

All my chains run two missing links with one inner between them, it gives me a short repair section if needed and just losing the lowest gear.Currently riding a Whyte T130C, X0 drivetrain, Magura Trail brakes converted to mixed wheel size (homebuilt wheels) with 140mm Fox 34 Rhythm and RP23 suspension. 12.2Kg.0
