Giant bike delivery

Finally decided to buy a TCR advanced SL however I have a problem with delivery. The only way I can get the bike once I have bought it is to collect it from one of the giant dealers. However the nearest giant dealer from me with the bike I want in stock is 90 miles away. That seems like a bit of a long journey to me. All the other bike suppliers that will deliver the bike don’t have it in my size. Is this really the only way to get my bike if I buy it from giant? Also if I collected the bike will the bike be ready built and will they cut the ISP to size for me?

Could you arrange your own courier to collect it?

Depends if you mean 90 miles up in the north of Scotland, on winding B roads, or 90 miles up the M1/M4/M5 etc. 180 mile round trip is really no big deal..

Nothing in anything of the internet shops like CRC/Merlin/etc?

Drop a post re sizing/colour/spec etc and lets see what we can do to help out a fellow forumite in his hour of need!!!

Alternatively, call a couple of removals firms - they will pick stuff when coming back from a job as to have something in a van is better than nowt.

We got TDV's stuff like this when she moved down to God's own country from the grim industrial north.

    Re built - yes.

Re cutting ISP - following sizing check, yes.

Re immediate post purchase first service and any warranty claims that may happen: your call and negotiation with shop.

You said that the dealer was the nearest Giant with it in stock. Can they not ship it as a click and collect to a more local one?, who of course you will use for the initial services.

Most "Giant Dealers" are independent bike shops, they won't act as a pick up station.

I would have thought if you pay a deposit a local dealer will order one in from Giant like they did with mine. Maybe the dealer 90 miles away is selling it cheaper though in which case the local dealer may price match, or the local dealer doesn't do C2W, or there may be some other reason not to buy it locally

I got talking to a giant dealer that was local to me. He was no use if the truth be told and couldn’t order one in for me despite my best efforts. He didn’t say why but looking at the giant website all the bikes seem to be in limited stock so maybe it’s a problem on giants end. Anyway I’ve set up a notification for when (or if) more local dealers get the bike in stock. So it’s a waiting game I guess I’ll give it a month and if they haven’t got it in stock by then I’ll look for a bike from a brand that have bikes in stock and will actually delivery them (any suggestions I quite like the look of a cervelo). As for the suggestions of cycling it back have you seen the weather in the UK. I’d probably die from heatstroke.

watch the QC on Cervelo. MF has had two - one cracked apart, one was rubbish from the factory so went back.

If it's a 2018 bike you are talking about, then there won't be any more stock. Giant is probably well into its 2019 production run now, so the only 2018 availability will be either whatever an individual dealer has in the showroom, or whatever is left in Giant UK's warehouse. So in other words, if you want that particular bike, then you are going to have to make the 180 mile round trip somehow to get it.

When does giant start selling its 2019 range of bikes??? I did think this could be the case but I remember up until around March of this year you could get the 2017 TCR SL from many dealers and they had all sizes in stock. Maybe they just had trouble shifting that years range???

The 2019 bikes are already listed on Giant UK's website, plus remaining 2018 on offer..
