Do you use spray on lube or some harsh cleaning products? I don't know of any that do that to paint though...

No...never, I always take it to the bikestore for service and washing, I noticed that changing a flat tire.

I hope Trek cover this with the lifetime warranty

Is the damage confined to the dropout? Is it an alloy dropout bonded into the carbon?

You take your bike to the shop for washing??
  • A friend of mine use to own a bike shop, took all our bikes in after rides and had them cleaned and lubed ready for next rides

This is why you should wash your bike yourself. Maybe degreaser on the paint ?

Not personally, know plenty of people who have had an easy/positive experience with it though.

It almost looks like a shoddy repair to a broken drop out that's been painted over. If you're having a problem getting a response from Trek, I'm told that a suitable Twitter post is a very powerful persuader . . . but you should give them a reasonable chance before resorting to that.

Have you owned the bike from new as Trek warranty only covers the first owner.

You need to take it in to the retailer, that's who your contract is with. They should deal with Trek.
