Last month I got a 2018 CAADX and I am loving it, have already done 5-6 100k rides on it. First thing I did was change the tires to Maxxis Rambler 40c 120TPI and it has made the ride much better. It came with Cannodale SI crank and FSA 48/32 rings, BB30, Shimano 105 Derailleur & shifters and a Shimano 11-32 cassette. Is it possible to convert it to a 1X and use a 42t or 44t chainring and use a 10/42 or 11/42 cassette ?

11-40 would be possible with something like a Wolftooth road derailleur extender. That is assuming 105 derailleur is medium or long cage.
10-42 not possible as would need different freehub. 11-42 beyond the range of the above but may be possible. Shimano road derailleurs can be really bad for throwing chains off too, so you'd likely need a chain device. Personally I'd stick with a double if you need that much range. A lot of cost for little benefit.
