I felt like the roving reporter today, but without the mic!
Ladies this am in St Jorioz, caravanne joust outside Annecy (good picking for the boy), the depart village including photo stop with Andy (I won the Tour) Schleck, then up the Bluffy for the first polka dot points, onto St Jean de Sixt to see Cav racing the Voiture Balai (after the classics boys had hammered through, then chaos on the descent to Le Grand Bo as the La Course vehicles and Le Tour vehicles duked to out between the camper vans, parked cars, cyclists and pedestrians, then the first few groups through onto the finish run in, before riding back around the lake for a beer and food.
Cafe mentioned in Talloires is Basecamp btw.
Now Toured out (well live viewing anyway!)0 -
So there we go...it's all over for another year.
A 2hr walk through Cluses (via Carrefour for some local specialities for lunch) was prelude to a 2hr walk up a forest trail to Romme. And when I say up, I mean up...it felt like a constant 30% slope all the way. My legs ached and I was as hot and sweaty as yesterday, but then I broke out of the tree line to this view of Romme, climb to the left, descent to the right...
And here is the riders view...
I only had to wait 45 minutes before the fun started...
My winnings...
Time for some REAL french food...
And then the serious stuff.
Alaphilippe wheelsucking Gesink...no panache.
The Skybots...
Failure to plan means you are planning to fail...
How to do it properly, Banksy styley...
And finally, its goodbye from me and it's goodbye from a very proud white van French man!
So there you have it, the real story of Stage 10 of the TdF 2018. Hope I managed to capture some of the stuff you don't get on the TV. It takes a bit of effort and planning, but it really is a fantastic experience to come here and see it live.
Thank you for reading.Half man, Half bike0 -

Glad that wasn't you in the mankini group.
Sad that you will never get to wave the Cofidis scarf to celebrate team victory.0 -

Yesterday was an excellent stage to see live. Good weather, amazing terrain, no real racing to follow on TV.0
