Has anyone had Cataract Surgery? How long was it before you were able to resume cycling? I'm being done on Friday 13th

I have...annoyingly only on one eye - I wish now that I’d had both done.

It’s like having a bionic eye fitted. HD vision afterwards. I opted for the general anaesthetic (I’m a coward :D )

Be prepared for glares at night from lights, particular car headlights. It takes a day of so for your brain to get used to the lens and then it’s totally natural.

A week will see any trace of the wound disappear (it’s very small anyway) - the Phaco machines used nowadays are fabulous.

Check with your medic before your ride, but do so with glasses in any event. I waited 10 days before resuming riding.

    Good luck :)

I had both mine done, one month apart.

The wound heals quickly but you must avoid pressure changes in the eye for some time afterwards.I ignored this advice and suffered a torn retina after lifting a heavy load out of a supermarket trolley some weeks after the operation.

Worth discussing with surgeon who performed the operation, mine didn’t mention it until he was lasering the tear to repair.
