That wasn't to you. It was to bucks speedy boy almost running down a pedestrian who did have his back to him.
Yes of course it was my responsibility not to run him over which is why I proceeded not to! Just to point out this was not some narrow cycle path or lane, but a wide country road which was wide enough for two cars to pass each other. The point I was making is that as far as they were concerned it was all my fault even though they chose to suddenly cross a road without looking behind first, then I was subject to abuse even though I was far over to the right on a fairly wide road

I saw in the paper this morning that there are suggestions that all cycles should have a bell at all times, not just when sold new. So presumably some of the people on here and the people suggesting this measure want us all to ride round like Miss Marple with a shopping basket on the front ringing our bell and shouting a cheery hello to every pedestrian.

You asked him to stab you?

He wasnt going to stab me, not with 25 or so people around. He was a yob who thought he could act tough infront of people and be intimidating

Personally, I'd rather not test someone. 25 people around or not, an idiot is an idiot.

You yourself said you hadn't warned them of your approach. A shout would have done it. A shout seems much more sensible than ringing a bell. The bell law should be thrown out. The danger is from cars not bikes but this government is rubbish.
