Disc brakes have been around for quite a few years and they will wear out eventually.

Post photo of your worn rotors, stiff like this, not mine I hasten to add.

The discs on my commuter have been on 9,000 miles and are still fine.
Currently riding a Whyte T130C, X0 drivetrain, Magura Trail brakes converted to mixed wheel size (homebuilt wheels) with 140mm Fox 34 Rhythm and RP23 suspension. 12.2Kg.

I have a 160 mm diameter Shimano Ice-tech disc that has a minimum thickness of 1.5 mm engraved upon it. New they are 1.75 mm. I bought some new wheels that were 6-bolt and the discs were centre lock, so I had no use for the discs. The first time I measured the 160, it was 1.4 mm. It looked fine, but I could feel the step.

The other matching rotor was a 180 and that had 60% life left on it. I sold it on eBay as "part worn, 60% left". I got a good price for it too. :)
