Hi,

Im sure there are many posts about upgraded wheels but was wondering if anyone had tried the following as they were recommended by a local store. They are the Veltec Speed AL TR 2018

https://www.cookecomponents.co.uk/product/veltec-speed-al-wheelset-2017/

There was also a similar version that had a smaller rim for a bit less. I was looking in that kind of price range - £400ish but have found these a bit cheaper on another site. Is there anything else I should look it? The store said Mavics but not sure I will get a set for that price range.

I am a recreational triathlete so looking for a slight aero advantage but cant really afford a full deep rimmed carbon set. I currently ride a Giant Defy and i'm still on the stock wheels so i'm sure that any wheel will be an upgrade.

Thanks in advance for any information

Doesn't seem to state the weight but going to assume those are pretty heavy wheels

I'm also not familiar with the brand (but others might be)
  • They are 1830g - they are heavier than some but was thinking the slightly deeper rims might have aero advantage over 100-200g. They are a German brand, apparently newish to the market

    Check out this thread:

There's loads of info on carbon wheels from places like Farsports which cost the same as those alloy wheels, have deeper rims and weigh up to half a kilo less.

These wheels are excellent, and light, and also save you a few quid. Everyone I know who has tried then said they feel like they should be way more expensive
