Hi to all,
since a few months i have a pair of Northwave Extreme XC's. Beautiful, stiff etc. no complaints there. But they are hurting my feet after an hour or so (i am using them on my road bike).
So my question is: can i make the upper material a bit softer ? would it help if i put them in the oven?
i tried the oven variant...since i dont want to ruin them, i started with 10min at 70Celsius.

For me this is the dilemma with MTB shoes for road use, MTB shoes allow you to walk "normal" but are (too) hard on the foot. Also open for tips for replacement (Fizik X5 Terra ?)
thanks for your feedback
(hope i posted in the correct place)

Sounds like they are just the wrong fit. Might be worth explaining how/where they hurt. And I would seriously not recommend putting any shoe not designed for it in the oven.

MTB shoes shouldn't be harder than road shoes, if anything the opposite. Often the very stiff carbon soles on top end road shoes cause problems.

I use Specialised Recon shoes. Lovely shoes (if you like laces).
Condor Super Acciaio, Record, Deda, Pacentis.
Curtis 853 Handbuilt MTB, XTR, DT Swiss and lots of Hope.
Genesis Datum Gravel Bike, Pacentis (again).
    Genesis Equilibrium Disc, 105 & H-Plus-Son.

    Mostly Steel.

I use the NW Evolution Plus and whilst they're the correct size, I too suffer with tightness. NW do make wide fitting shoes, but finding them is like finding the proverbial rocking horse sh1t.
I ride a bike. Doesn't make me green or a tree hugger. I drive a car too.
