New frame required

I’m after a new (second hand is fine) frame, but at the moment I feel like the guy on the yellow pages advert looking for ‘fly fishing by JR Hartley’. I’ve phoned loads of shops but had no success, I’ve trawled all the usual sites eBay, gumtree etc. But had no luck as yet. Do I just be patient or are there other avenues I could go down. Is there a place on the web that sells loads of these things I’ve missed or anyone know of anyone who just sells frames?
Any help would be great.
I’m after a 19 or 20’ frame that takes 29’ wheels and has a bb30 BB and an 1 1/8’ straight headset tube for my recon gold tk29 forks, I’ve got a budget of around £200

I hated that advert as a kid, cos at the end when he finally finds a shop that had it they ask his name for the reservation... and it's JR fucking Hartley. I mean, would you not have a copy of your own book?

Anyway, have you had a look on the Pinkbike Buy/Sell section? I've bought and sold loads on there over the years. Also try the classifieds on SingleTrackWorld.

It might be easier to find something suitable if you can be flexible on certain items. For example, straight head tubes are pretty rare now on all but low-end bikes, and this has been the case for a few years, but some headsets have the option of a converter crown race, allowing you to put a fork with a straight steerer into a tapered frame. That gives you a wider range of forks to choose from if you decide to upgrade as well. Same for the BB - If you already have a BB30 crankset then fine, but it's not the most common standard for MTB frames.

Maybe he had given it to his grand daughter, left it on a train, it fell out of his camelbak when cycling, many readons. .

I think he was just lonely and liked talking to people on the phone. He probably had multiple copies of the book.

Well that combo is going to be tough as BB30 is bang up to date and straight head tubes are about 6 years out of date, why not just either
1/ Get a tapered frame and fit a crown adaptor to take your Recons for now
2/ Replace the Recon's, they're hardly cutting edge, I'm running some 29er Rev RCt3 that have cost me £150 (built up by mixing and matching parts), were £110 before swapping the RL for RCT3.
Currently riding a Whyte T130C, X0 drivetrain, Magura Trail brakes converted to mixed wheel size (homebuilt wheels) with 140mm Fox 34 Rhythm and RP23 suspension. 12.2Kg.

All great ideas. I have now started to look at new forks, as I think this would be a better option and of course a more up to date frame.
    The search is on.
