New chain skipping sprockets

Hi Guys,
I'm hoping someone can help with a dilemma I'm having.......
I recently upgraded components on my road bike to new front and rear derailleur, new KMC chain and some Q ring crank rings. I think I've set things up properly but I'm getting an issue with the chain skipping/slipping under load, when I'm standing on the pedals or putting in a lot of pressure......not when I'm cruising. The cassette is brand new (a few months old) and all other components added in the upgrade are brand new. Everything is 10 speed compatible so there shouldn't be an issue with compatibility.
It seems to be most apparent when the chain isn't in a dead straight line with either of the crank rings, when it is dead straight I get no skipping at all. I've had a little play with the cable tension to adjust position of derailleur to see if this helps but I think it's still happening.
I'm at wits end with this issue so would appreciate any help someone can offer.
