Aluminium seatposts - all basically the same?

Hi All
I need a longer seatpost for my new steel framed bike. Budget means it will probably be aluminium.
In terms of performance/comfort, is ther any point spending more to buy a ‘better’ one, or are they all pretty much the same? Cheaper ‘posts tend to be 6061 grade whereas more expensive ones are generally 7050/7075. I think 7000 series aluminium is stronger so the ‘posts can be made slightly lighter - does this provide any other benefit?
Cheers
Dave

You're unlikely to feel the difference, but there is lots of scope for weight difference - as a good quality alu post will be around 200g where a cheap one might be as much as 400g.0

Thomson Masterpiece is probably the best known really light Ali post, but I'm sure there are others.0
