Also, why consider that an aero bike is a different type of bike, I mean if you only have 2 bikes they can be radically different feeling bikes without one of them being aero.
The only point in an aero bike is aesthetics, and the minutest bit of advantage if you live in a particularly flat bit of norfolk.
Of course, the evidence is against this as in every pro race you watch all the riders on aero bikes come in first followed by all the riders on non-aero bikes.
Anyway most people buy them for what they look like, and the other people buy them cos they believe it will make them faster but it won't in the real world.0 -

I have 8 bikes. This is purely a foible that I fancy because I like the way it looks.
If you have ever read anything either the MFs or I have posted you'll realise that we take all these aero/wattage claims with a huge pinch of salt.
My soloist was lovely to ride but I can't say whether that was down to its aero properties or because it was just so freakin' cool after it had been powder coated and I built it up with bits I chose.Postby team47b » Sun Jun 28, 2015 11:53 am

Complete bike with Centaur or 105 for £2250, sell off the other bits to bring the cost down.
Looks great IMO and I say that as a Colnago man.
Was looking at one of these before I bought the S5 - have just never seen one in the flesh. In pictures they look lovely though.
Can't find them as frameset and don't have initial wedge to get it as a whole bike.
Damn good call though.Postby team47b » Sun Jun 28, 2015 11:53 am

Looking at Bianchi, you could pick up an Oltre XR2 frameset under budget. I've got one in black with dura ace and it looks aero (my wind tunnel is broken atm). Comes in under 6.7kg with pedals and cages too.0

How about a Dedacciai Atleta from Vanilla bikes ? Aero, Under budget, stealth black, range of sizes. Have a couple of riding friends who have them and swear by them.

Framesets on ebay for sub £1700. I paid less than £3000 for a full bike. Struggling with images from my phone but I'll get the laptop out.0 -
Not the best of shots and need to slam the stem/cut steerer but this was it's first ride.0 -
Very, very nice - big het.
More food for thought.....Postby team47b » Sun Jun 28, 2015 11:53 am

Sure it’s a great frame but Tifosi’s marketing have actually put me off buying them.
Thank you anyway.Postby team47b » Sun Jun 28, 2015 11:53 am

If you can stand white, I'd suggest this. Liked the frame enough to get another when I crashed the old one.

Don't know your size, but here's last year's S3 (the one I have) for exactly your budget: https://www.wheelbase.co.uk/product/bik ... 3_blk_red/
I paid exactly your budget for my frameset in Sigma's sale last year.0 -

Specialized Allez Sprint. I reframed my old Look with one of these a year ago as a second bike. Really impressed, low stack height for the actual aero gain and a few non-round tubes so it looks the part.0
-
Slightly over budget - but contact the actual store to see if you can negotiate a discount - it has been on sale for a long time.
I would check out the headset spacer - it might need changing to achieve the appropriate stack/reach

The S5 has gone because its shhitt so have £1750 to spend on an aero frameset.
Has to be one colour, look cool, be fast. Not overly bothered about comfort.
NOS is fine by me - more frameset less price.
Any suggestions?
There's a new New Zealand brand called CHAPTER2. They only do road frames. They have just launched their new aero frame called the RERE. You should check it out. I am thinking of getting one myself.0 -

Interesting but top tube too sloppy and marketing style puts me off. Thank you anyway.Postby team47b » Sun Jun 28, 2015 11:53 am

Just to add to my suggestion on the Deda, here's a pic of one of my friends bike. Have to say it looks even better in the flesh

Talking to him the other day and he said they're very long in the TT so sizing down is a good idea.0 -
