Sorry if this subject has been covered before.
A few of us have entered into the L'Etape du tour this year and would like to insure ourselves/steeds during our stay. Does anyone have any experience with any sport specific insurance cover they have used for such events. I have no experience either riding abroad or covering such things. Google has provided an initial find of SportsCover direct which I am happy to investigate.
Any advice would be warmly received
Thanks
Matt

Try one of the comparison websites - the meerkat one is good.
Then look for travel insurance and sports travel insurance. In the past I've used dogtag - (you do get a dogtag which is cool) but see whats best for you.0 -
I simply use a combination of contents cover and general holiday insurance. Contents for objects, travel for health. With the right options ticked everything is covered except racing. I don't think the Etape constitutes racing. The above may be fact, or fiction, I may be serious, I may be jesting.
I am not sure. You have no chance.Veronese68 wrote:PB is the most sensible person on here.0 -
Cheers for the reply,
The big difference in price is how you would describe the type of cycling. Could the Etap be described as recreational?0 -

hard to see why an insurer wouldn't call that a racemy bike - faster than god's and twice as shiny0 -
Fair point in that case.
At which point I would definitely be checking it out. If they are not covering or pushing the point then they will probably want to wash their hands in the worst case scenario. The above may be fact, or fiction, I may be serious, I may be jesting.

I'd check with the insurers. They're the ones you want to pay up if anything goes wrong.0
