Wahoo find a friend functionality

Hi has anyone got this function to work successfully on their Element? Where other nearby riders using the elemnt are displayed on the map screen.
My family has 3 X Elements bolts and we can't see each other even when we are over 50 meters apart. We have followed Wahoo's setup advice without success. It doesn't seem to pick up other riders very well, when it does occassionally locate someone the signal drops out all the time.

My reluctant conclusion is that the feature just doesn't work very well. I've been through the advice and help desk, factory reset etc and it hasn't made a difference. My colleague can usually see me on his device, but I have only ever seen him once. I sometimes see people he doesn't. Riding together he might be able to see me but I can't see him.

I thought it might be an android (me) vs iOS (him) issue, but I think I've ruled that out.

Zooming right out only ever shows a max of two or three people, even across the whole of london, or reading and oxford combined.

Yes I found the same, I zoomed out to the whole of London on a Saturday morning and only saw one other user but not either of my sons who where there.
We also did a grand Fondo with thousands of other riders but only saw three other users in 10 hours but neither of us saw each other.
I appreciate any Wahoo user must be paired to the app and have visibility on and be at least 50 meters away.
It's a shame as if it worked it would be great for looking out for each other on group rides.
In Wahoo's defence the live tracking does seem to work well but requires the use of a phone, table or pc to view.
