Super excited, new bike arriving tomorrow with some luck, it has DI2 Ultra R8000 groups, I wanted to know if I can use the eTube app via bluetooth to set the shifting to full auto and program the hidden buttons, or if I would need some other piece of kit.

Thanks.

Almost forgot the other reason I mentioned eTube iOS is because the reviews on the app store kept mentioning how people connected for the first time and it tried upgrading the firmware and messed up and they had to take it to store for a firmware reinstall. Really don't want that.

You will need a bluetooth connection if its not coming with 1 ....Shimano SM-EWWU111
Then you can access via the etube app.

Not strictly true. If you've a lap top or computer you can get the bike near, plug the charging lead into the computer and bike. Open the E-Tube app and you can set synchro shifting, gear change speed, how many changes on the rear, hidden button actions and what you want the X & Y buttons to do. You can even set it up like eTap if you wish with the left lever changing down on the rear and the right lever changing up on the rear. With synchro shifting the front takes care of itself.

The D-Fly (SM-EWU111) is just to communicate with other bluetooth devices like your phone, cycle computer, lights etc. The E-Tube app via the phone can be problematic, so I always do any settings via a PC. I have D-Fly, but merely for operation of the Wahoo ELEMNT via the hidden buttons.

Arh yes sry forgot about the lead to the pc...personally not had any problems connecting to android phone or ipad air2 via the D-fly and ofc as has been said you can use it to access some cycle computer features.

Above when you mention open the e-Tube app I assume you mean the PC version, right? Or you are saying once connected I can open my iOS E-Tube app?

PC version. Its much more intuitive anyway over the iOS version and you can do far more with it.

Eat my words, fired up and installed :D guess the laptop is raging better then expected. Not a very intuitive bit of software, am I write in thinking once I connect the lead the appropriate parts would light up, or I need to select Road maybe? Will go hunting for a youtube video.

Once you're connected, it will highlight all the components that are connected. It will then ask you to install any software updates for the components. With everything connected, it does become intuitive.

You were right once connected it was easier then expected. Dislike the fact when you setting to shift mode 1,2 there no light indicator as to what mode you have it in and just cycles through, other then that pretty cool. Thanks all.
