I'm going to Northumberland in August for a week.
Can anybody recommend some circular routes - ideally starting relatively close to Berwick?

The waymarked Coast and Castles ride passes through Berwick and splits there into the coastal and inland variants to Edinburgh. For a good long ride you could therefore make a loop of those two routes.
You could also follow it South which is very spectacular and then come back on roads further inland, although there are some off road sections which would be ok on a gravel/cyclocross bike but not really rideable on a normal road bike.

Although it's a one way route, there's nothing to stop you heading east at some point and back up the coast. It does seem to be a bit more off road oriented though0 -
The Wooler Wheel has several routes covering Northumberland0
