Getting back in the saddle

My bike (Claud Butler Urban 200) has been in the shed since we moved house 4 years ago, (along with my daughter's old, unused bike) but today I finally got round to getting it out for a look see. The tyres were flat and it looked quite grubby, but the chain was still black thanks to my idea of smothering it with vaseline back in 2014...
Anyway I had a few issues, one being that there was a bike lock going through the spokes on the back wheel, and I'd lost the key! Also I had no pump, and one of the valves looked bent. About to give up when my father in law turned up, who is a keen cyclist, and he was keen to help! He went home and came back with a pump. In the meantime I'd found the key and got the lock off.
So tyres pumped up, gears adjusted and it was good to go. Dad took it up the street before I had a little go. Sorted. Good to be back in the saddle. Hopefully the tyres will stay up and I can start planning a short ride (I'm gonna be saddle sore after the first ride, walking like John Wayne!)
As for my daughter's bike, which is now far too small (and too pink) it will be donated to a neighbour who has a little girl, if he's interested.
