Hi,

I've bought myself a new bike with Flat pedals, I have a 6 month old pair of FiveTen Kestral boots and was told by the LBS that I should be able buy a pair of cleat covers that would cover up the cleat screws

https://www.scotbycycles.co.uk/3280/pro ... overs.aspx
Looked like just the ticked £8.50 to turn my shoes into flats.

Problem is these things are like rocking horse poo and I can't seem to find them anywhere.
Does anyone have recommendations on alternatives.
At the moment I'm thinking of taking the cleats out and just using Gorilla Tape/Electrical tape to cover the recessed section of the shoe to stop crap getting into he cleat holes.

Anyone else had this problem or am I looking at a new pair of shoes, which seems a bit excessive.

Thanks,
Kala

Can you not fit cleats so the holes are filled

You could easily make a set of covers from a chunk of rubber.

I've got a pair of DMR vaults

and I am worried that the pins in the pedal may damage the cleat/cleat holes, puncture the tape and let a load of crap in the holes

I think you are over worrying. Unless the uppers on your cycling shoes/boots are waterproof, that is where the majority of water will enter.

You could put tape over the cleat area inside the shoe after removing the insole.
