Im trying to replace the 36t inner chainring with a 34t on my FSA Slk chainset. When I order a 5 bolt 110 bcd n10 chain ring the bolt pattern doesn't match the crank spider. The current FSA slk inner chainrings seem to have a four bolt pattern. Can anyone shed any light on this please?

You should order a four bolt chainring if your crankset has four boltss
You should order a five bolt chainring if your crankset has five bolts.
Has the light come to you?

I'm not sure I understand the question.

Am I right in thinking you need a 5 bolt 34t inner chainring for your FSA chainset, but the one you've bought, despite having 5 bolt holes, doesn't fit? If so, is it the wrong BCD or are the holes just not in the right places around the ring?

(I think the mention of the newer 4 bolt design is a red herring...)

If it's a SLK-ABS the ABS stands for asymmetric bolt spacing. They have 4 arms / bolts and then a fifth bolt hidden behind the crank arm. So you'd need a specific 5 bolt ABS ring.

Either that or you've bought an ABS ring and don't have an ABS crank...
