Is the Mavic Comete taking over from the Cosmic?

I'm a tad confused:
Cosmic:

Comete:

Is this the last year of the Cosmic?
I did have a quick google, but didn't find anything too conclusive.

The cometes came with my bike, I honestly think cosmics are better for me. The cometes are really really deep at 64mm. (Wheels deeper than 65mm aren't allowed in road races under USAC rules). Cometes feel quite heavy for sure, and feels quite twitchy in winds.
As far as your question goes, they aren't gone.0 -
Yes a tad heavy for the mountains or windy days. The cosmics are more an all round wheel set, lighter not as aero but fine in windy conditions.0

Ah ok, nice one, cheers gents, wasn't sure if the Cosmic was about to become extinct and needed to grab a pair sooner than later!Felt F70 05 (Turbo)

They haven’t long upgraded the cosmic to UST tubeless standard, which as I understand it involved quite an investment by Mavic so I’m pretty sure they are here to stay. Were they to delete them from their lineup there would be quite a hole in their wheel range.0

Hopefully the 2018/9 Cosmic will be UST & Exalith, no way will they do away with itI'm sorry you don't believe in miracles0

The Cosmic Pro Carbon UST are full carbon and 40mm depth rim with the same technology as the Cometes.I ride a bike. Doesn't make me green or a tree hugger. I drive a car too.0

You're actually looking at different wheel types. The Exaliths are an ally rim and brake track as opposed to the Cometes full carbon wheel. If its a full carbon Cosmic Pro Carbon you're after, you want the Cosmic Pro Carbon SL UST version. I have these and very happy with them especially for the price I got them for.

Hi - how do you rate them as all round performers? Considering these or some Alto CC52 which are a bit deeper. Have tried Firecrest 303 but a bit on the heavy side for climbing. Also wanting something for mid week time trials. Cheers0 -

I like them. They're aero enough to help with the flat, but at 40mm aren't a problem in cross winds. They're light enough for hilly terrain and have some special coating on the brake track to reduce heat build up. I like the freewheel noise being a deep hum rather than the old loud Mavic clicking. I run them tubeless with Mavic Yksion Pro UST and haven't had any issues, fitting the tubeless tyres didn't create any problems.I ride a bike. Doesn't make me green or a tree hugger. Thanks for that, the wheels you have look amazing, and are uber light, but I can't quite spring to those, looking at the Carbon Pro Exaltith's as you mentioned instead - tempted by these available for £766 currently.
Other option is to wait to see if next years wheel is better specced, but then I also run the risk of it being above the 1K ceiling for C2W scheme - and yes I have checked and can buy them on it.
Decisions and risks!
Due to the room on the rear of my 2012 frame, I won't want to risk more than a 23mm tyre really - does anyone know if these would be safe to run with a 23 on the rear, OR does the wider internal dimensions mean a 25mm tyre would bulge less, and therefore be less of a risk?
Thanks

Yes, I wouldn't have paid what they cost or my other half would have slaughtered me. I was a very lucky customer that got a never to be beaten deal at even less than you're paying for the Exaliths.I ride a bike. Doesn't make me green or a tree hugger. I drive a car too.0
