I had a camping and MTB weekend in an old cement quarry last week - it was superb! A great venue for serious XC racers and just for fun families. My 15yr old entered his first XC race and came 6th out of 10 entries, he was well chuffed!

The site has been well planned and the tracks are XC style green and orange routes (with some freedom to make your own). They are as tough as you want them to be with plenty of escape routes from the more difficult bits. It made a pleasant change from the likes of Sherwood, Dalby, Cannock. There are no big hills as such but there are plenty of technical tracks - it really is worth a visit.

The organisers are great bunch who are genuine MTB/XC enthusiasts - at the moment they are only Facebook group based https://www.facebook.com/groups/114623582652849/ . A lot of the organisers are Retro bike enthusiasts also, very interesting displays of early MTB's.

A bonus to me is its reasonably local, it means I can have a quick blast at a night time also.

I know this might read like an advert but its not - we just had a great weekend and I want to give credit where credit is due!
