Just broken three teeth of my big chainring on a prowheel ounce crankset, and the small chainring is quite worn too, so thinking a chainset is likely to be cheaper. It's currently a double prowheel ounce 721 compact crankset, running ten speed.

Trying to work out the best option to replace it with: Currently fitted with a 105 5700 shifters and FD.
Options are
4700 (10sp) compact for £65
5800 (11sp) compact for £89
5750 (10sp) compact for £109.

I think the answer is the 5800 compact, but being aware that the rest of the crankset is 10 speed, will mean slightly worse shifting. Is that right? Which way would you go?
ta!

Ps. According to the Shimano compatibility site, the fc4700 crankset isn't compatible with a 5700 series FD ( or shifters). Anyone know why?
Intent on Cycling Commuting on a budget, but keep on breaking/crashing/finding nice stuff to buy.

Theoretically the spacing is different between the 10 and 11 speeds but in practice the difference is so small they are interchangeable. I've switched my 11 speed 52-36 with my 10 speed 53-39 across 10 and 11 speed bikes with no issues.

I'd go for the 5800 compact if I were you. 4700 is a fair bit heavier and no point in paying more for 5750.
