Boardman Hybrid Team

Hi. First post on here.

I'm thinking of buying a new hybrid soon with the cycle to work scheme, mostly for commuting but with the option to go off road. I've done a bit of research and found the Boardman Team Bike seems a good buy. However, I've been told (by a young guy at Halfords who didn't seem to have much knowledge on bikes) that the carbon forks would be at risk of getting damaged if taken off road. Ive had a look at some of the higher end cyclocross bikes and they have carbon forks and some have carbon frames. So i'm thinking, why would they fit them onto the top cyclocross bikes id they would be at risk of getting damaged?

If this the case i'm thinking of getting the Boardman Hybrid 8.8.

Any help with this matter, before I potentially make the wrong purchase, would great!

Absolute bullsh1t! Buy carbon forks or frame with confidence.

Boardman bikes represent very good value for money, I covered 15K miles on my last one before selling it for 50% of what I bought it for.

    Thanks.

So did you do a fair amount of miles off road in that time?

No, it was all commuting on road.

I doubt you will find a decent level CX bike without carbon forks to be honest. I stand to be corrected on this as off-road isn't my thing.

    Hogwash - buy it!

For off road, I would fit some more appropriate and wider tyres though.
