Will this wheel fit?

I have a Cube Reaction bike which is fitted with a X12 thru axle on the rear wheel. I need to change this wheel and am finding that wheels with thru axles are really expensive.
Is it possible to fit a wheel with a standard QR skewer onto a frame which was originally designed for a thru axle?

    Whats wrong with the current wheel? If the hub is still good it might be easier to have the hub built onto a new rim

    I have overtightened the nut holding the rear mech in place and cannot get it off.

    The nut on the casette (cogs) you mean?

    Rear mech has nothing to do with the axle, and what can't you get off, the rear mech, wheel, mech hanger?

    Not 100% sure but reckon the answer is no since qr axles require an open drop out.
