Any thoughts on these 2 bikes ? - My current carbon ultegra is coming up for 10 years old - so I think a new bike is due. Thought I would try disc brakes so have got down to these two - on the cycle-solutions scheme the bianchi comes out £200 or cheaper - both at around £1700-1800.

The cube spec is a lot better - but I do like Italian bikes - and I keep my bikes a while I don't want something looking too dated after a couple of years

Bianchi

I don't race - and tend to do 50-60 mile rides at the weekend and the odd sportive

  • I'd get the Cube, but any idea which would fit you better?

Personally I'd go for the cube, I've had a cube before and it was great and I plan to get it working again ready for the next winter for a training bike. I'd prioritise componenty and wheels over the frame but if you really like the Bianchi and your heart tells you to get it then go for it. You could always swap out components to another bike after you wear them out a bit and use it as a winter hack and stick a nice Chorus or Ultregra/DA groupset on the bianchi frame in the future if you wanted?

I was in exactly the same place as you - I loved my Wilier Izoard with it's swooping lines, classic paintwork and Campag groupset. When I got my Cube Agree C62 disc as a CTW/winter workhorse etc. I thought I'd struggle to get past the Wilier in the garage but it was the complete opposite. The Wilier hardly ever got ridden and I sold it to a very deserving chap through this very site.

That'll tell you which way I'd go.

Oh, and £2.5k for that spec is mental. You'd REALLY need to want it for that. May well be worth looking at this - now this is a showstopper - the same frame but with last year's graphics and a full Ultegra Di2 for £150 more than the Bianchi...... https://www.freeborn.co.uk/cube-agree-c-62-slt-disc-carbon-black-2017?gclid=EAIaIQobChMIiqeq4u-H2wIVkU8YCh17yQT2EAkYBiABEgI4bPD_BwE
    Trail fun - Transition Bandit
Road - Wilier Izoard Centaur/Cube Agree C62 Disc
    Allround - Cotic Solaris

Hi - I won't be paying anywhere near £2.5k as I can get either bike via cyclesolutions scheme for around £1800. Sadly the SLT disc isn't on the scheme - so £2600 for the slt di2 is quite a lot more money - although I agree (!!!!) very good value.

I always wanted a wliier iozard - but it came out loads more expensive than my kuota kharma. The kuota has been fab - especially since I put some deep sections on it.

Back on topic the cube looks the favourite at the moment - But I may hang on as they seem to get heavily discounted (sadly not in my size)
A final + for the bianchi is how well they hold their price...

Think you should go for whichever feels more comfortable and better specced despite the fact you a lot faster on a bike you like the colours of. I have a Bianchi, but I also had and old classic car, neither were or are as well specced as other options and the classic car certainly wasn't reliable, but there was always something about the heritage for me that I loved.
If you are not that hung up about the heritage, go for the Cube, if you are, then you will always yearn for a Bianchi unless you get one, and then spend a fortune upgrading :=)
