Which Road Bike Is Best?

Hey there guys.
I just needed some advice/recommendations on a road bike to buy. I'm looking into buying new (but also keeping my options open regarding second hand - I've been through this route before). I'm looking to get a good frame, with a decent groupset (Tiagra most likely?).
My main uses for the bike will be daily commutes to university, however I also plan on doing longer 200-300 mile rides abroad this summer, and shorter weekend trips.
The two I've found so far are the Giant Contend SL 2 2017
