Sounds like you should buy a full suspension plus bike and swap the tires out for some slicks

Kuota Kiral - 105 for just a tad over £2k. I have the kharma which is the older version very comfortable.
The kiral is one of the few relaxed geo bikes that looks sporty.

Worth considering the Cube Attain GTC Pro Disc?
It ticks the carbon, 105, hydraulic discs, , wide tyres and comfort (at least for me) boxes.
Looks very good value for the 2017 model at Rutland at the moment £1070 (was £1699)
I have the 2016 model and it's performed very solidly - a lot more comfortable for long rides than my previous alloy framed Scott.

Interesting I am considering the cube c62 sl pro. The sizing on them seems confusing. The bike size recommended for me has a 560 top tube - where as my current bike has a 535 - the size below has a 538 top tube - but per cube sizing that would be to small for me.

30+ and the OP dies not know what they need. I am not sure we can really advise except comfort come from a a well fitted bike and the tyres.

As for wheel go for wide rims and tubeless tyres. The difference this makes cannot be understated.

with owning so many bike you should now know what effective tt lengh, head tube length, head tube and seat tube angles work for you. Go by that not sizing charts.

In response, I do know what geometry fits and yes I've owned and ridden a fair amount of bikes over the years so have direct experience with different materials and builds. As mentioned in the original post I was keen to find out more about what is most important when looking for a bike more then this vs this bike. Modern carbon developed sportive frames vs titanium was an area of interest for me.

General feedback has shown that tubeless with wider tyres and a well fitting bike (you've said this above) have a large impact. So therefore there are lots of options as I've found multiple road bikes that can fit 28mm tyres and have a geometry which fits well. This is the route I'm heading down, looking at 2nd hand bikes to get more bang for buck

Worth also saying I'm living in rural Ireland and the farm roads here are brutal! The Dolan frameset is sharp and really not comfortable for long rides (no issues when ridden on smooth tarmac in London)

Get yourself out to Wexford and the farming roads here - London is like glass in comparison!

    Just a follow up here:

I managed to snap a Giant Contend 2017 Tiagra second hand and have fitted 105 5800 brakes, Spesh Romin saddle, 25mm conti gp4000s, Shimano RS20 clinchers and a RedShift stem. All in its cost of around £500 with take off items sold.

Only ridden around 50k so far but it's buttery smooth and feels great. Remarkable the difference felt between the Dolan and other full on carbon race bikes to this sted. Tubeless will be added once the tyres are worn out; I'm cycling around 250-300km per week currently so a while to go yet.
