MTB hydraulic brakes not good

Can anyone tell me what would be wrong with the hydraulic brakes on my MTB.when I first got the bike they were great with excellent stopping power....but now they have very little stopping power and squeal like mad under braking...
Any ideas

    Contaminated pads. Have you been spraying stuff on your bike?

    If you get any oil or similar on disc brake pads the performance is reduced and you get the squealing.

    You could try cleaning them and the rotors with disc brake cleaner or similar , but if too contaminated you will need new pads and clean the rotors before fitting them.
