I have a road team carbon boardman with a 10speed Shimano cassette. I have bought some new wheels that I’m waiting on which can take up to 11 speed. I will need a spacer I think, I’ll my boardman already have a spacer on, or if not does one usually come with the wheels? Does the spacer usually go on the hub before all of the cogs? If I need to buy a spacer I take it Halfords or somewhere will sell them? Cheers

    Spacer/s on first then cassette.

As many spacers as you need to take any play out. One or two will generally come with the cassette.

Anywhere should sell them otherwise CRC or similar. Workshops generally gave them kicking around and will just give you one.

Your new wheels should come with a 1.85mm spacer.
You then just need to add whichever spacer your cassette comes with. For Shimano 10spd (except Tiagra) this will be 1mm.
FFS! Harden up and grow a pair :D
  • Thanks both, I typically have Tiagra so do I do something different with that? So just to confirm I add the spacer that comes with the wheel and an additional one too? If so what size if ai have tiagra? Thanks.
