Stem rise same as degree?

I was wondering if rise was the same as angle when it comes to stems?
I have 2 planet x stems which say 55+/- on them but they look like 35 degree stems so a bit confused, surely a 55 degree stem would be pretty extreme, one is 110mm and the other 100mm. Maybe 55 is the rise? 55mm, 5.5cm?

I think I've got an On One equivalent, never noticed any 55 writing on it, it's 100cm and 35 degree from almost ten years ago... Was a life saver back then for my injured lower back.================

Well 55 + 35 =90 so I think they are just measuring from a vertical perspective not a horizontal? Although that could be bullshi7.0

Subtract 55 from 90. What do you get?
(the 55+/- is the angle)Ben

The stem can fit in both directions, so is either 55 or 35, depending on which way you are holding the protractor...0
