I'm looking to get a new road bike for Sunday morning rides, occasional sportive and maybe the occasional triathlon.
I've done some research and I am drawn towards a very good aluminium bike as opposed to a cheaper carbon bike.
So far I've looked at the Cannondale Synapse and CAAD but have not been able to do a test ride. The Canyon Endurance AL 7.0 also looks a good bike.
My concern is getting the right geometry and size as my height is 5' 9" and inside leg measurement is only 29".

I think a lot will dep nd on your budget. Once this is set, do some research...are you bothered by brand new or used? There’s some great used bargains around. Size wise, anything from a 50 to a 54cm bike will fit but it depends on actual geometry, so test ride, test ride, test ride to get it right....then buy the one that’s prettiest!0

is this your first road bike or just a new one to replace the old one?
If it's the former, then you need to visit a decent shop and try some out for size, and they'll help you with the fit and setup.
If it's the latter then you can use you old frame as a basis for choosing the new size, if you feel the old one was the right size and you know a bit about bike geometry.Facts are meaningless, you can use facts to prove anything that's remotely true! - Homer0 -
My budget is £1500[/quote]
You can get a lot of bike for £1500 both new and used. At least Shimano 105 gearing, but possibly Ultegra at that price point. I’d definitely go carbon too. Brand new you may have to compromise on wheels but second hand you’ll be able to benefit from someone’s else’s upgrades.
As the previous poster says, get measured properly, do some research (there’s a gazilion reviews right here on BR website) then go for it....you’ll never look back!0 -
I love CAAD's and so would heartily recommend one.
But maybe get a 105 version and spend the extra on some new wheels.
You'll end up with a cracking bike for what you want.0 -

That is a seriously great offer - 56mm might be a tad on the large size for OP though, given 5'9" with 29" inside leg, he is only an inch taller than me and I take a 52 (or 54 at a stretch).0 -
I'm 5'10" with 32.5" cycling inseam (not trouser inseam where I'm 30") riding the 58cm of that Cube model, they size small, I could have gone with 56cm but wanted the higher front end because of my weak lower back.================
