Scratches on new rims

Just received a new set of training wheels but having opened the box I noticed some scratches on the front wheel rim. Nothing too deep but still annoying.

Shop I purchased them from have been good and offered either a refund, exchange or £20 partial refund if I keep them.

I know the rims will inevitably get scratched at some point. Just wondered if these scratches would have any affect on braking?

Would appreciate any views on whether they will likely be fine or if it's wiser to return them.

Thanks

Reckon they'll be fine but I'd still return them or ask for a bigger discount.

If it were me, I'd exchange them.
What if you take the £20 and then have a problem with that rim in future - even if it seems unrelated you will always be wondering.

Superficial scratching to the braking surface, which will be almost impossible to spot after a few hundred miles of riding. I'd take the £20, fit the wheels and carry on riding...

The warranty will not be affected by the offer of £20, so it doesn't really matter either way.

    Thanks for the comments fellas.

Just compared them to the wheels they will be replacing and the scratches are nothing compared to what the winter roads have done to them! So going to keep them.

I've had much deeper gouges in brake tracks than that due to hitting debris in the road. As long as you sand / file off any sharp or raised bits to stop them shredding your brake blocks you'll be fine. And £20 up!
