Fluorescent/high-viz road cycling jersey suggestions

Been thinking about making myself more visible this spring/summer but finding it surprisingly hard to find a short-sleeved jersey in a fluorescent or high-viz colour. The Castelli Perfetto Light 2 looked promising but the back panel in all colours is black! I like Rapha and have considered the Pro Team Midweight Jersey in bright orange - not really fluoro but pretty bright (and I don’t like the pink). I would prefer not to wear team kit. Anyone got any suggestions? Thanks.

Better than making yourself less visible. Never done it myself, usually run lights in daylight through winter but summer is anything goes kit wise

Beware rapeseed fields when they are in flower.
    You will become invisible.
The above may be fact, or fiction, I may be serious, I may be jesting.
I am not sure. You have no chance.

Pactimo jerseys are nice and come in some pretty bright colours. Plus the RT ones have reflectives built in to them

How about the new Entzun collection from Etxe Ondo https://www.etxeondo.com/uk/gb/clothing-cycling-men/jersey-entzun-112.html#/1-size-s/15-color-green aswell as the green, there's pink and orange.

Ale, Castelli, DHB, Komraid and TIC.cc all do bright ones

I love my Ale winter fluro jersey.
  • Pro viz do a great Gilet , size up massive . Im usually medium , but needed an x.small.
  • Wow - thanks everyone, great response and some really good suggestions. I've just ordered one of these for what seemed like a good price:

I'll spend some time over the next few days looking at the others - I particularly like the look of the Pactimo and the Etxeondo.

    Thanks again.

A fluoro or hi-viz jersey will have little to no impact on the numbers of road crashes in which cyclists are killed or injured.

    This came out today: https://www.bikebiz.com/news/hivis-compulsion-study

In my experience people rarely change their mind based on evidence...or selectively pick the evidence they believe is correct (We all do this to some extent) but this is from a fairly long list of global studies on the non effectiveness of hi-viz, for both cyclists and motorcyclists (who often are involved in exactly the same type of incidents).

But honestly, each to their own. Plain black kit is boring when everyone wears it, so fair play to whatever you wanna wear - but please don't be complacent and have any belief that it'll save you - it might - it might not, just don't rely on it.

Nobody said anything about hi viz preventing crashed etc, however you simply asked "WHY" anyone would wear hi viz kit and really it is so blindingly obvious your answer was stupid. I'll spell it out for you, people wear hi viz kit in an attempt to be seen better. As it happens I don't but I also don't need an explanation as to why others choose to wear it, you obviously need said explanation....

I agree that studies have given mixed results, so the jury is still out. Hi-viz might avoid accidents caused by motorists not noticing the presence of a cyclist but it won't prevent the type of accident where the motorist saw the cyclist but misjudged what the cyclist would do next. And it won't protect you from the simply dangerous or drunk driver or the one sending a text message while he drives. On the other hand, wearing hi viz might make it easier to convince the judge that the motorist was 100% to blame.

By the way, there is an argument that says you should avoid hi-viz yellow because it attracts insects and instead go for orange or even pink.
  • In good summer daylight, I'm not convinced that yellow/orange would stand out more than a plain white or a design with strong colour contrasts such as this:

    https://www.prendas.co.uk/products/santini-la-vie-claire-wonder-look-retro-cycling-jersey?utm_medium=cpc&utm_source=googlepla&variant=30462026247&gclid=EAIaIQobChMIi9O1k8iT2gIVipXtCh0LqQn8EAQYASABEgIuzPD_BwE
  • people wear hi viz kit in an attempt to be seen better.

And studies have shown that high-visibility clothing for cyclists does not make any difference "to be seen better"
