Hey guys, currently have my sons bike stripped down and ready for the powder coaters... in the meantime we are looking at upgrading the forks!
http://www.youthcyclesport.co.uk/kit/re ... porte-mtb/
Currently it has a coiled 63mm sun tour fork that I can hardly move... plus it weights a ton... so my question is has anybody upgraded the fork or has any views on going for a 80mm or 100mm air fork?? Would it change the geometry too much??
Thanks in advance

80 would be OK, 100 too long for the frame.Currently riding a Whyte T130C, X0 drivetrain, Magura Trail brakes converted to mixed wheel size (homebuilt wheels) with 140mm Fox 34 Rhythm and RP23 suspension. 12.2Kg.0

Guessing 1 and i/8th steerer. You could probably find some second hand forks quite cheaply. 100mm RS air forks can normally be reduced to 80mm using a spacer, but that's not my area of expertise.
You probably wont do much better than these if you want to keep the brakes, otherwise it means replacing brake levers, and shifters as well.
Nice and light, work well, and easy to do a basic seal/wiper/oil service.
