Inexpensive frame (Planet X RT-58 V2?) for turbo mule

I'm building (or having built) a turbo trainer mule bike.

Because it's going to be sat in my gym room, I want it to look quite smart, so I'm looking at inexpensive new frames (or v smart 2nd hand) in either black (ideally!), white or silver colour, the plainer the better. It's only ever be going to be used for turbo training so the requirements are fairly basic and no point spending needlessly...

The first suitable thing I've spotted is a Planet X RT-58 V2 ali frame, either 100 or 125 quid dependent on size.

Given the above requirements, can anyone think of a better option?
Or come up with a good reason why I should avoid the RT-85 V2?

Cheers.

I did something similar (but got carried away and made it into a winter bike)

I was going to get the RT-58 but then found you can get a decent Specialized Allez for between £150-250 (all ready to go) so bought an Allez instead.

OP, what groupset are you thinking of putting on it and are you buying that from new or have you got it lying around?

I've been considering this frame for a winter/commuter bike as it's cheap and comes with mudguard mounts. Does anyone know what size tyres you can get on it with full mudguards fitted?

Not much choice of sizes left but have a buddy very happy with his Radial: https://www.radialcycles.co.uk/revere-1 ... frame.html

For the turbo very little reason not to go second hand though, might be worth a look - key thing is that you can match the geometry/fit on bikes you actually ride out.

11-spd 105, to be bought from new (sans brakes). Have handle bars, seat, pedals. Other bits, LBS parts bin where possible or new if not.

An very tidy Allez frame would be ideal, as the geometry would suit. Don't really want the full bike as I'd prefer to kit it out myself.

That Radial looks alright - thanks. I need quite a large frame so size might be an issue as the 58 is a bit short in the effective top tube. Still, I've ordered one so I'll find out if I can make it fit!

No real negative to a big stem on a turbo bike!

just get anything new or second hand that you like the look of and have it and all components that you can (seat post, stem, bars) powder coated the same black.

    utterly cool stealth bike.

Received the Radial frame - on first look comparing to my main bike the size appears spot on - bit of a result.
