De Gendt seemed to only be thinking about climbing points, then remembered who he is and then...what’s Flemish for “mashed it”?

Another game, yet another kiss of death...

The numpty antics of the peloton never cease to amaze.
Did they really expect TGH and Diddy Kenny to catch 4 riders on their own?

It was. A great win by De Gendt, especially with the wind. The chase group just hung on, they were caught on the line by a strong chase from Sky, but it was in the balance all the way to the flamme rouge.

Every time they showed the S Yates / Quintana group Nairo was sat on the back of the 4 doing sod all whilst the other 3 took their turns. But you could argue that with Valverde in the overall at the time, why should he.

Great ride by TdG - all that Zwifting continuing to pay off. :D

    So update.

Hilly day. Chavez in a big move on the penultimate climb which was big. About a minute or so ahead of the much reduced peloton.

Valverde has just made a move over the top and caught up with Chavez like he was a Falcon and Chavez a mouse. More a reflection of the latter’s slowness you feel. Both have 10 or so seconds over the peloton now I think, but it’s not clear.

    TdG not contesting overall.

The new Queen stage being blessed by crap picture coverage and Eurosport packing in the ad breaks. because today they are actually riding. Plus Kirby is rapidly exceeding his cliche limit.
    Just the last climb left.

Ok Valverde and Chavez are group 2 on the road ahead of the peloton but have sat up.

No idea who is group 1 and Kirby is being useless.

U23 World Champ at something like 18 years of age.
Think he was the junior world champ the year before.

Using froome's patented pedalling-while-sat-on-the-top-tube position before froome did, iirc.

All kicking off but I need to write this report.

Valverde has gone straight up to what is now a big group of fast climbers and looks as easy as he does in the final hill in Liege.

    Quintana likes the snow.

Henao chasing a solo Quintana with Valverde in his wheel and a bunch of climbing favourites behind.

Pretty much the inevitable result from 6 kms out.

What, get paid to do a job but doing it so badly I inadvertently put a load of people off the product?

Yes but what does that have to do with cycling?

Winning World Tour races should never look that easy. Valverde just eased past Bernal there at the finish, class from Movistar though surely Valverde could have really stuck it to Bernal to put the overall beyond doubt?
