Hi folks

I’m 5 ft 8” . Saddle at 70cm B.B. to top of saddle along seatpost. Slightly longer upper body than average . Flexibility not great . 52 or 54 super six ? Interested to hear other riders thoughts if you ride a Cannondale super six or caad . I reckon I can get away with either.

    I'm 5' 6" and ride a 50 and 52 EVO, prefer the 50cm though.

    I'm 6'0" and have had 56 in CAAD10, supersix and CAAD12.
54 may be big for you.

I'm exactly your leg size with a slightly longer body, I rode a 52 and loved it. Here's a pic of the set up:

I have had a 52 CAAD 10 disc and 54 Supersix (both models are same geometry). In terms of reach I found barley any difference between the sizes and had to run a 90mm stem on both. If I bought one again I’d go for the 54 as the drop became an issue on the 52 for me.

I’m 5’8 but shortish reach. Saddle height was fine on either.

It’s a weird one the Supersix sizing dilemma! Best to try if you can.
  • I think the reach will be perfect on the 54cm straight from stock and I won’t need many spacers . Won’t be a lot of seatpst though with a 70.5cm saddle height . Bloody Cannondale and their straight top tubes .!

5'8, 29" inside leg, riding a 54 'six and CAAD 10. About 10-11 cm post showing, 100mm stem on a single 5mm spacer (the big 25mm top cone replaced with a 5mm equivalent). Find it pretty comfortable at that, although my arms are quite long.

Be sure to double check, though. AFAIK, the geometry changed a bit when the model was refreshed, so studying from the pre 2016 models or the CAAD could be right out.

    Interesting , What’s your saddle height ? Have you a photo ?

Rough initial position/setup. Saddle's about 5mm back from this position now, and a tiny smidge lower.

The CAAD in behind is set up pretty much the same. Saddle height is 695-700mm, I can't recall exactly, but it's written on a wall in the shed somewhere.

Similar so to my leg length etc . Looks fine to me and the bike is really nice by the way . How do you find it ? Similiar ride to the caad ? I know people that think the caad 12 is big for their size and taller than the caad 10s in stand over

It's smoother, accelerates a little quicker, a bit less buzz, but it's not dramatically better in any one way. All those little factors add up, though. The CAAD gets more use as I race and train on it, mostly, and the six gets out on high days and holidays, or anything 100 miles plus. That's not saying the Supersix isn't great, more that for what I do and how I ride, the CAAD is plenty.
  • My size 52 with 70cm saddle height and a 100mm stem. I'm 5 ft 7. Reckon a 52 would be better than a 54 for you as well. It depends on how low you want to go. The main benefit of a 54 would be a taller head tube.

  • What year is the super six ? I’ll check geometry . Where you tempted by the 52? 5ft 8 can be a pain for road bikes . Most mediums are designed for 5ft 10 and most smalls will have short headtubes 40cm bars and 9cm stems so need changing .

Mine is a 2015, pre refresh. Last year of original SS Evo

Geo-wise, the 52 and 54 had identical reach, and only 1.5cm in stack (or less than swapping the top cone would give me) of difference. The 54, however, is half a degree steeper in head and seat angle and has a shorter trail, and having tried both in CAAD guise, I preferred the 54.

Aesthetically, the 54 had a slightly flatter top tube. Not a huge fan of sloping TT or massive amounts of 'post showing. As to changing parts, on both bikes I started with a bare frame and built myself

All this is before the changes made in 2016
  • hows tyre clearance ? I wonder if the more recent models allow 28s

    2017 onwards allowed for 28's
I'm sorry you don't believe in miracles

Clearance is tight enough. 25mm on 19mm internal run clear, but only just. It's tightest round the chainstays. As that man says, though, that's not the case any more
  • well it’s a toss up for a supersix or a tcr . I’ve ridden the medium tcr and found it quite comfortable . Hope to take a super six out for a test this weekend . Decided on 52cm. Looking at the all black one above with the saddle at same height as mine it’s got to be .

I think 50 or 52 both would work.I am the same height as you and my saddle height is 69cm.

I have a CAAD12 in 52 with 100mm stem and it fits great - it would fit you great as well, I'm sure of it. Also, in my opinion you could definitely go 50 with a longer stem but definitely not a 54...

I have a caad 12 in 52 for my main steed but was offered a supersix at the right money 54cm .
Did you know the caad 12s geometry changed in smaller sizes 48 50 52 . Apparently the rear triangle was incorrect in 2016 causing a 52cm to have a 56cm seat tube . Thankfully mines a 2017 with the right stand over

I’ve recently got a Cannondale Caad 12 105 disc ina 54cm. I’m 5’9 with a 32” inside leg but a short upper body and arms. Feels fine so far!

Previously had a 53cm Boardman Team Carbon and a 54cm Caad9. Feels much the same in terms of fit.

5 8" with a 52 super6 with 710mm saddle height and 120 stem with a single 5mm spacer (you have to get rid of the stupid dome spacer it'll come with) I also have a caad9 (made in usa :D ) 54 frame (same geometry) with a slammed 100mm stem which still isn't quite low enough. Much prefer the fit of the Supersix
