How much clearance needed for wider tyres

Im doing the Ronde in two weeks time.
Swapped over the 28mm Conti 4 Seasons from my commuter to my Canyon Endurance rim brake bike, and it fits into the frame and the Ultegra 6800 brakes (i have to pump up the tyres after fitting otherwise doesnt fit through the brake blocks).
I've got a couple of millimeter space between the forks and the brake arms, maybe a bit more at the back. In addition to width the height of the front tyre also just about clears the fork.
Was wondering how much space is sufficient to run the wider tyres successfully, and in particular for the Ronde. Its no cyclocross race but can imagine the roads wont be pristine at this time of year.
Any advice appreciated. Normally run 25mm GP4000s

As I discovered on my CR1 you ideally need more than a couple of mm.
Was running 25mm Pro4 SC as summer tyres but found when fixing a rear puncture that the inside of both chainstays had gouges, possibly from sticky tar / chippings used for surface dressing carried by the tyre and forced into the gap.
I've now reverted to a 23mm tyre on the rear for better clearance.
You might be lucky and get away with it for just one ride...0 -
