When I replaced my brake pads, the clip that goes round the shaft pinged off and is lost. How csn I get some of these cheaply? Its sbout 10mm long and not a circlip or an R clip; it might be hairclip. I can't find them on eBay. I don't want to buy a new pin.

Usually you can get them off Ebay, I did lose mine a while back and haven’t replaced them. Haven’t experienced any issues

If you maintain your bike regularly, I.e. Look it over, you would notice if the pin is coming undone.

I wrap a piece of thick copper wire in the recess for peace of mind but have not had a pin come undone.

I managed to get some off Ebay from China for about 50p for 50 or something crazy like that. Last time I changed the pads I didn’t put any new ones back on and haven’t noticed the pin move or come loose at all.
