obviously congratulations are in order first, and that would explain why Boels hadnt been picking her to ride any of the early season races.
whilst its not unusual for there to be pro level racing dads combining parenthood and racing, its still fairly uncommon in the womens pro peleton to be a racing mum, and probably unique for both parents to be racing at the top level at the same time
but as the article/statement says she hopes to return in 2019 for the worlds in Yorkshire and finish in Tokyo 2020 and kudos to Boels for agreeing to support her for that, as I thought her current rider contract ran out this year,so they must (surely) have agreed an extension of some kind
though the wider impact is without Lizzie scoring UCI ranking points, Hannah Barnes is the only other GBR rider in the top 30, and Lizzie did score the bulk of them for GBR, well its certain GBR slips down the rankings, its whether it goes down far enough then that they could lose a rider spot for the world championships, which is a possibility Id have thought but maybe only if one of the other GBR riders ends up with a season impacting injury

I remember Orla's interview with Lizzy when she arrived in Rio for the Games - clearly a broken women. Horrible stuff and should have been canned.2020/2021/2022 Metric Century Challenge Winner0

Today she announced she's retiring at the end of 2025. Always looks pure class on a bike.
