34t rear cassette with a 36/52 chainring
I have just bought a Cervelo S3 disc and was wondering if it’s ok to install a 34t rear cassette on it if I install a shimano ultegra r8000 rear derailleur gs medium cage?
It’s the 2018 model and the current set up is 52/36 chainrings and 11/28 cassette.
What I would like to do is change the cassette to the ultegra 11/34t cassette https://www.sigmasports.com/item/Shiman ... sette/G0KC
Rear derailleur r8000 medium gs
https://www.sigmasports.com/item/Shiman ... ur-GS/FVPC
But I’m not sure what chain I would need to complete the set up?
And how the gearing would compare to a 34 chainring with a 32t cassette which is on my current winter hack?
Basically struggling on the hills with the 28t...as there’s some big climbs in Wales and I tend to spin rather than grind.

I use this website when looking at gearing - http://www.bikecalc.com/gear_ratios
34/32 gives you a ratio of 1.06
36/34 gives you the same ratio of 1.060 -
For ratios just divide the number of teeth on the chainring by those on the sprocket. Simple.0

Perfect thanks!
So like for like for climbing ability then
Shame I need that climbing ring as the close ratio gearing keeps my cadence up at 90 with ease.
So would chain size be just a typical 11 speed 116 link?0
