Hi
I am currently looking at getting back into mountain biking. I am looking for a half decent entry level bike that i can use for XC, light trails and also road use as my boy is at a good age and i really want to get him into cycling.
I had originally been going down the used route however i am slightly worried as i am not 100% what i should be looking for and do not want to get ripped off. This then led me to look at new bikes. I am well aware that i will not get a perfect entry level bike however from what i have seen for £400 i should be able to get something with a decent frame and set of forks that should at least last a few years and give me the hunger for the sport.
I am just stuck as whether to buy used with the intention of upgrading or do i just bite the bullet and get a new bike?
I have seen 2 used bikes below, both are looking for just below £250 and from the pics look to be in good condition.
Trek Marlin 7 2015 model

Merida Big 7 20 MD 2015 model

the 2 new bikes i have been looking at are:
B Twin Rockrider 560

Specialized pitch 650b

your help and expertise will be hugely appreciated, also if you know of a bike that you feel would suit better please let me know.
Thanks again

Haven't got time right now to look at all the links, but check out the Voodoo range from Halfords. 10% off if you sign up to British Cycling for £20 too. As is the norm, your budget will probably be tested a little, and if you can add even another £100 I think that would open up more doors for you.Daddy, Husband, Designer, Biker, Gamer, Geek
