Hi!
I am a senior engineering and lifelong cyclist. I developed an application to calculate the length of the bicycle chain (for coursework at the university). Tests have been performed to control stones.

With this post I intend that you comment and give your opinion to surround of possible improvements.

I've launched the app on Google Play, only for Android.

    What are control stones?

Seems easier just to measure in situ.

Or alternatively, just one one of the many existing chain length calculators, like this one - http://www.machinehead-software.co.uk/b ... hcalc.html

Why are you engineering a solution to a problem that doesn't exist?

It's easy to get the right length chain without any need for calculation, chain wrapped on biggest sprocket and biggest chain wheel, rear mech vertical. That's assuming you don't still have the chain you're replacing, in which case it's trivial.
  • For all the chains I have fitted, I have never had to calculate the correct length. There are established techniques that are as easy as any app. You might as well invent a remote control for my penis, even tho I can already reach my penis.

I don’t think this right though. At Big big the derailleur should be stretched.
