Cannondale SuperSix Evo upgrade to Etap

Hi
I have a SuperSix Hi-mod that I love from 2015 and considering upgrading to SRAM etap. It has a standard BB30 and SRAM red chainset that I’m looking to retain if possible.

I’ve searched all over the internet and can’t find anything. I’m sure the rear derailleur will not be an issue, it’s the front derailleur that concerns me. Will the older frame have enough clearance? Will the cranks clash with the FD? Does the latest SRAM red BB30 have a wider spindle to create more clearance?

Thanks

I was looking at this the other day, thread there. It's the Hollowgrams that cause the issue apparently, so you may be ok with the red chainset

Just to say I have Hollowgrams and eTap on my 2015 supersix evo and have no clearance issues

  • I have a 2016 SS Evo which I have fitted eTap to - no issues at all and absolutely love it.

The one piece of advice I would give is to go for the Wifli groupset to allow you to fit a 32 tooth cassette if you so wish.

    Thanks guys,

I was debating going for the Wifli groupset. Most of my rides will be short and punchy (I race TT's in the road bike category) and I've never needed a 32 before. For only a small increase in cost it would give more options I suppose.

Has anyone ran the Wifli with an 11-25 cassette?

Defo mate. I upgraded my red 22 and flogged the old parts for £360 so man maths and all that!

I'm thinking a Mason Bokeh now with the HRD eTap it's that good!

  • Sorry to drudge this back up
Did you fit the etap with the hollowtech cranks in the end?

I have a 2015 supersix evo and got etap on order and I’m getting concerned that the fd is going to hit the cranks
  • I did fit the etap groupset, but used the Sram red chainset. FD clearance is tight but it works lovely.

On a separate issue I'm sending both the FD & RD back to Sram. I've had 6 batteries break in 9 months of use!!
  • Oh no - sorry to hear that
That’s definitely not what I wanted to hear as mine is being delivered tomorrow :(

I’ve only got the standard hollowtech cranks so I’m praying it’s workable as I don’t want to spend anymore... the Mrs will kill me

I have a 2019 CAAD12 I would like to put Etap on, so I am waiting to see if it works for you. I have a hollowgram SI crank and ultegra parts all around.

    Why lose Ultegra for sram?
