Weird sounds coming from rear wheel/freehub

Just began hearing noises in my freehub (or at least thats where I think it's coming from) today while moving the bike. I recorded the noise so that somebody might be able to help from experience. Video: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1yUkG-9 ... sp=sharing

I'm not on about the clicking sound, towards the end it becomes clearer. Can't really place the sound but you should notice it.

Difficult to tell, but sounds like it might be some grit in the freehub pawls. Should be fairly easy to clean out and the freehub bearing sounds like it might need changing anyway..

Already?! It's only a new bike...
  • Are the wheels Fulcrum, by any chance?

New bike or not - the sound is what it is, unfortunately.

    Yes, they're fulcrum

I'll bring it to the LBS and tell them I've been hearing sounds and hopefully they won't charge me.

We're probably being unfair as they are hugely popular but are cheap Campag/Fulcrum wheels the worst in the world? I've had one set of Khamsins and now some Racing Sport DB's and they've both lasted about six months before all the bearings or the freehub is shot. Rubbish.

No that crown must surely belong to the Magic Aksium with its freehub made from an alloy of Camembert & overripe Brie. 3 killed in 13 months (original, warranty replacement & the replacement replacement)
  • Well, are they ok to ride to the LBS with (About 20km away) or do I risk damaging the wheel/bearings?

If it’s the bearings, they’re damaged/ finished anyway.

Ffs... I'll just have to pray it's not...

Oops - had to get a new rear as Fulcrum are out of stock of freehubs and it's completely died. Obviously went for an Aksium......

Are you implying we've totally confused the thread by posting off topic rubbish? Fair point. Sorry. Just feel I need to vent about my rubbish wheels. First ever ride on Mavics today and I did like the way the tyres almost fell onto the rim and that they have nice yellow sticker on the hub. That must be as good a review as putting bomb proof or spin up to speed quickly...

Its a cheap wheel so bearings will be of a lower tollerance spec. The fulcrum sport wheels use a freehub that is problematic. water ingress is likely (so no pressure washing) and i would not put any chain degreasers anywhere near it.

For cheap wheels shimano have the better hubs they always have. Also miche have wheels for not alot of money using the primato hub. these are even better.
