If it turned out Valverde was still doping, would it affect your opinion of him?

Cycling is more than physical strength so whilst i would be disappointed i wouldn't be particularly surprised .

Fortunately Cycling is so much more than FTP and Power to weight.
  • I used to dislike him intensely. both over puerto but also his horrible negative style of racing where he would never work with anyone in a small group. However in the last few years starting with that brilliant win in Roma Maxima or whatever it was called he seemed to just get more aggressive and entertaining which added to his obvious ability has won me over. I'd never cheer him for the win but I don't hate him winning anymore either

try , If it turned out Valverde was riding for sky would it affect your opinion of him?

LOL no, i dont have a downer on people that ride for sky, in fact far from it GT and Luke Rowe are 2 of my favourite riders. Luke Rowe especially and i hope he returns even stronger.
  • I'm less intersted in if theyve cheated or not depending on the amount of noise announcing someone is innocent. Especially in the face of pretty damming circumstances.

EG Valverde had a bag of blood = Bad but not too bothered more dissapointed.

Wiggins TUE and jiffy bags +loads of hes innocent because he hasnt been found guilty = BAD but would like him to be busted mostly on the stregth of his supporters screams of innocence. And lets face it, the case against him was dropped because the "lost laptop and poor record keeping" meant that UKAD was frustrated. Obviously it helped that his doctor was too poorly on the day of his hearing to give evidence.

More importantly the way Valverde races is class and very enjoyable to watch.

See, now this is what I mean.
Utterly meaningless and inaccurate justification for having a selective pop at certain riders, while lauding others.

As I recall, Piti was pretty bothered about it.

Oh look, talking of delays in getting a decision on sanctions.

    As for losing his results...

    http://www.cyclingnews.com/news/valverd ... s-results/

Well, since he very fortunately kept his results, I guess he must have taking the decision on the chin. Oh, wait....

So, lets just cut out the hypocrisy, eh?

No i meant Im not too bothered. At the time I wished hed just get on with his punishment and cut the charade bull. I seem to remember this forum being mostly in favour of hanging him out to dry on much less evidence than we have re froome currently. Thats where the hypocrisy lies.

Vino, if you're gonna go down this path you may as well post some photos as well... you know to keep these threads aesthetically pleasing and all that. ;)

It would depend how that compares to his peers for me.

Completely agree, but while Kwiatkowski lacks his consistency (as does absolutely everyone else in the world), his race craft is on par with Valverde for me. During the last Tour Kwiatkowski immediately grew into the role of even giving Froome instructions on when to push despite Froome having more high end GT experience.

Kwiato will probably stop racing before Valverde.

Contador was never particularly good to look at on a bike. Not awful. Just ok.

    Valverde is poetry in motion.

Froome is worst thing on a bike since Escartin.

I do find it amusing the way you celebrate convicted dopers yet are restless in pursuit of others yet to be convicted of anything. As someone only a year or two older yet showing signs of slowing on my own bike, Valverde's ability to get better with age leaves me envious.

I enjoy watching valverde because he's class, he's a winner and he looks good. If i didnt enjoy watching dopers I wouldnt watch professional sport.

And yet you can't shut the f**k up about one in particular.

How dare you! Mottet is untouchable. He can ride however he likes.

What?! Funny how the French used to refer to le rost biffs (on bicycles) as 'frogs on matchboxes' and yet they had Charly Motter.
